How it all started…

The Kelly Brothers are a family of butchers who have been in the business for close to 50 years.

From humble beginnings in 1972, Mr. Kelly Snr. opened his first store in 1972 with his brother. By 1979 they had their second store in Droimne, Dublin. Shay was the first son to join his father’s business in 1985 and by 1991 Shay earned his Master Victualler diploma and Ciaran then joined the crew in 1991.

In 2005 the Kelly family amalgamated their various businesses in a purpose built, state of the art factory in Clondalkin, Dublin. From their new base, this family of award-winning butchers grew to be one of the most respected meat processors and wholesalers in the city, serving some of the best hotels and restaurants in Dublin. Today Kelly’s employ more than 15 staff.

This year, they received their greatest accolade when they were awarded a “distinction” by the Food Safety Professionals Association, the highest such honour awarded in the industry.

Of the many 100’s of meat businesses in Ireland, Kelly Brothers were one of only 15 companies that obtained such an honour.
