We’re delighted that you’ve discovered Carnivore Kellys!

We are here to help you along your path to raw feeding, and one of the first steps is answering the big question:

Why should my pet have a raw-fed diet?

The answer to that question can be varied and complex. So, we will just try to hit the main points here but if you have any further questions, please feel free to contact one of our experienced team.

To get started let’s look at the basics of biology. Raw feeding can benefit your pets for the following reasons…

Teeth:
Look at your pet’s teeth. Do you see any flat molars? No, you only see incisors. Incisors tear meat and break bones, and they only move up and down in a cutting motion. Conversely, herbivore’s teeth have vegetation-mashing molars that move side-to-side. Then there are omnivores, like humans, that have a mix of incisors and molars.

Digestive Tract:
While a little harder to see, the digestive tract of carnivores is shorter. They have a high hydrochloric acid content to break down the meat, bones, and organs in their diet. In addition, they have little (or, in the case of cats, absolutely no) amylase. Amylase is the digestive enzyme that breaks down complex carbohydrates. Complex carbohydrates make up the main building blocks of plant cell walls. Also, carbohydrates are the primary ingredient in the average kibble diet.

Genetics:
Dogs trace their heritage to the domesticated wolves and share roughly 99% of their genetic makeup. Meanwhile, our house cats are descended from the wildcats of the Middle East and have a similar genetic match. Feeding your pets the food Mother Nature designed for them will make all the difference in the world to their overall health.

Further reasons to choose to raw feed your pets include:
better oral health, less pungent stools, softer healthier coats, weight control, and reduced yeast infections.

As you can see there are amazing benefits of feeding your pet their natural diet! And at Carnivore Kellys we are passionate about providing you with the very best high-quality & natural products.

We’re delighted you found us and we look forward to supporting your feeding journey!
